Released on May 14, 2021, The Off-Season is J. Cole’s sixth studio album. Unlike his previous solo albums, this project features multiple guest appearances and is heavier on straight-ahead rap than his usual introspective style.
Features include My Life (with 21 Savage and Morray), Amari, Pride Is the Devil (with Lil Baby), The Climb Back, and Applying Pressure. The album debuted at number one — Cole’s sixth consecutive chart-topper.
The album’s title refers to the pre-season basketball concept — Cole preparing for his self-declared “Fall Off” album (his planned final release).
