Released on October 22, 2012, good kid, m.A.A.d city is Kendrick Lamar’s major-label debut studio album. Subtitled “A Short Film by Kendrick Lamar,” the album is a cinematic coming-of-age story set in Compton, California.
Features include Swimming Pools (Drank), Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe, Poetic Justice (with Drake), m.A.A.d city, and the 12-minute epic Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and eventually went 4x platinum.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest debut albums in hip-hop history and one of the defining albums of the 2010s. Rolling Stone included it in their revised 500 Greatest Albums list.
